Swedish jazz musician and multi-instrumentalist Gunhild Carling will headline the Annual Fundraiser Gala at The Cabaret this year. Carling has made a name for herself around the globe with her extraordinary skills and vaudevillian stunts, such as playing three trumpets at the same time. She has been featured on hit YouTube series Post Modern Jukebox putting a vintage twist on contemporary tunes such as "Material Girl," "Never Gonna Give You Up," and "Happy."
With heavy influences from Bix and Louie Armstrong as well as Billie Holiday, Carling is a jazz artist of the old breed. She plays trombone, bagpipes, trumpet, recorder and harp, and will often showcase all of her skills in one song, while singing and breaking into a tap dance.
This show-stopping display of musical talent is just part of the evening’s festivities. The pre-show party will feature complimentary signature cocktail, passed hors-d’oeuvres, live music by local jazz band Premium Blend, a wine pull and live auction that includes tickets to the Tony Awards.
Proceeds from the night will help solidify Indianapolis’ status as Cabaret Capital of the Midwest by helping The Cabaret present world-class performances, train the next generation of Hoosier cabaret stars through educational programs and keep their brand new venue beautiful for years to come.
Tickets for the evening are available here.
